How To Become Licensed

With the passing of the Private Security and Investigative Services Act (PSISA), formerly known as Bill 159 several changes have come in to effect. Everyone in the Province of Ontario that wishes conduct themselves as a security guard must first meet the provisions of the act.


  • Complete a 40 hour Basic Security Guard Training Program with a registered training entity
  • Challenge a written exam at a ministry testing centre
  • Apply for an Ontario Security Guard License

This is required for all in-house security staff as well as contract. Bouncers and door staff are also included in this act. The Ministry have been visiting local bars and night clubs and issued several fines to those not adhering to the act.
